BUY - A WRITER’S BOOKSHOP
I occasionally write things. You occasionally read things. We’re both in the right place.
Here you can buy my books, find links to other peoples’ publications in which my stories appear, and occasionally you’ll find a one-off oddball at the bottom of the page. Shelf space is always at a premium here; my loss is potentially your gain.
It could only be easier if I came and read to you. And that would be far more expensive.
SHADY ACRES AND DARKER PLACES
I read Poe early in life; I cut my teeth on anthology shows like THE TWILIGHT ZONE, which introduced me to the likes of Charles Beaumont and Richard Matheson; then I discovered Ray Bradbury and Robert Bloch; and not long after, I stumbled into Harlan Ellison’s work. They all made me want to tell stories. If their names are at all familiar, then you have a sense of what you’ll find in the tales collected in SHADY ACRES AND DARKER PLACES, which brings together stories from various magazine, anthology, and online appearances over the past decade.
The trade paperback and e-book editions contain 21 tales, plus copious story notes for the ‘behind the scenes’ people. (Trade paperback orders fulfilled by Lulu.com; e-book links provided below.)
The hardcover (the true first edition) includes the same 21 tales and notes, plus a bonus section with five additional pieces ranging from a high school publication to my first professional sale. This edition is signed and numbered, limited to 50 copies, and will not be reprinted. (Orders fulfilled by Midnight-To-Three Publishing.)
WORK APPEARING ELSEWHERE
I receive nothing from the purchase of the items below (I got paid upon publication) except the satisfaction of pointing you towards other publications and writers who merit your attention. Their editors like my stuff, YOU like my stuff - see how much you already have in common?
THE CURRENT ODDBALL (A ROTATING OFFERING)
SEASONS IN THE ABYSS (OOP, MA’S COPY)
My mom was my number one fan, and not in that creepy Annie Wilkes way. When I sold a story she got a copy of whatever it appeared in. When Ma died, my sister found all of my publications in the bottom of her TV stand, neatly arranged and all on their own, and they reverted to me.
This is Ma’s personal copy of the 2011 anthology SEASONS IN THE ABYSS from Blood Bound Books. An anthology of built around the four seasons, it’s got three of my stories: “Good Bait”, “Erin Beiber’s Wild Ride”, and “To the Devil, A Goat”. All three were at least slightly revised for SHADY ACRES, so this is the only place to read the originals. The book is out of print, and this is currently the only copy I can find online. Very good copy of a book only offered Print On Demand, so there’s no telling how many copies exist; original binding uneven at top of spine (manufactured this way) but straight, with some edge wear to the cover. Personally inscribed in ink on the title page. Pretty hard to find in any state, impossible to otherwise find inscribed by me to my mom.
